We primarily do maintenance and repair on older, more manual sewing machines; the older, the better. We want to help you save your old machine instead of you having to purchase a new machine to replace it.
Our routine maintenance includes removing the covers of the machine, cleaning and lubricating the internal components and making minor adjustments as needed. Our service fee is $75 for most domestic sewing machines. See our pricing page for more information.
Exterior cleaning cost between $10 and $25, depending on the amount cleaning required.
The recommended frequency for having your machine serviced depends on how much the machine is used, the type of fabric and the type of thread used. How/where a machine is stored can also have an affect on how often it needs to be cleaned.Â
We perform basic machine repairs such as tension adjustments, stuck or frozen parts, bobbin issues or electrical connection problems. We charge a $25 bench fee for each machine to determine the repair needed. That fee will be applied to the labor cost of the repair.
We do not work on the electronic components on newer machines. As independent technicians, we are not associated with any particular brand. That allows us to work on any brand but also means that we are not authorized to do warranty repairs and cannot get most of the electronic parts from the manufacturer.
Unfortunately, we are unable to service some machine brands because of proprietary rules. We cannot service any Bernina machines unless they are vintage (pre-electronic).
Here are some examples of how dirty a machine may be under the covers. Lint that is left in a machine will absorb the lubricants and get into the gears, keeping the machine from working properly.
